Honey, you need THERAPY!
Martin Perea, LMFT
We live in stressful times and face surprising new challenges every day.
When life becomes difficult, we tend to forget many of our personal strengths that served us well in the past. I want to help you find your confidence and strength during times of adversity. Together we can further develop your natural resourcefulness so that you can live your life to the fullest.
I understand the societal, familial, and interpersonal factors that cause us to feel unbalanced. I provide a supportive environment for my clients to address concerns, gain insights and achieve real change in their lives.
Reach Out
I pride myself on being non-judgmental and experienced—there is little you could say that would surprise me!
I adjust my approach to fit each client’s unique needs and concerns. I start treatment with solution-focused techniques to give clients the tools to start feeling better as quickly as possible. Once crisis has been averted, we can dig deeper to do the more intensive work. The focus should always be on you and how I can help you to reach your goals.
I work with individual adults only. I specialize in personal empowerment, relationships, and life transitions (coming out, divorce, grief & loss). My goal is to help clients develop happier lives and feel more connected to others. I have valuable experience working with transgender clients, particularly young adults and their families. My greatest strength is empathy, followed by active listening and strong recall of past sessions.
I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2008. Prior to that, I worked in community mental health and psychiatric hospital settings for three years. I am culturally competent and have worked extensively with clients from diverse backgrounds. I worked in psychiatric hospitals for 12 years, groups homes for gay adolescents, inpatient clinical drug studies, and bariatric surgical centers across Los Angeles County. Before I became a therapist, I went to film school and worked in the industry, so I understand the unique needs of creative people.

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Exceptions include:
Suspected abuse of a child, dependent or elder, about which I am required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm themselves, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law to ensure their safety.

My rates are $175-200 per 50-minute session. I accept cash, Venmo, and credit cards. I am adept at billing as an out-of-network provider with Optum, United Behavioral Network, Aetna, ComPsych, and the PWGA Anthem Blue Cross Plan.

If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.

How do you prefer to meet?
If you prefer to hold sessions over video call, FaceTime, GoogleMeet, and Zoom all work for me.
If you prefer to just do an old fashioned voice call, that’s perfectly fine as well.
I do not offer in-person appointments. I have found that virtual sessions make it easier and less stressful for patients to fit our regular meetings into their schedules.
